School Days and school pictures

Aren't they good-looking kids?  They were all smart, too, and made good grades.  Did I say?  Their teachers all loved them.  At least in elementary school.  Finally in 1970 we left Buffalo and moved back to Texas.

For a while we stayed at the Atwoods' in Mineral Wells, until I took a decorating job at Sears in Fort Worth and rented a house for us there.  It was at 4404 Wabash, in southwestern Fort Worth.

Somebody's Birthday

I am not sure whose birthday it was, but we were at my mother's house in Mineral Wells; I can tell by the sofa fabric.  The party hats are terrific!!

Sorry Anne was looking down, but she had fun I am sure, and looked beautiful as usual.

My happy Dad, Thurston Atwood in his 60's

Thurston in the front yard at their home in Mineral Wells, Texas.  He enjoyed his 60's very much.  He didn't stay retired for long; the company he helped found, S-Tec, wanted him back part time and he went.

Daddy liked to refinish and restore horns from Ford Model A's.  He would go to swap meets for car people and set up a display with his horns.  It seems that Ford used five different horns during the years Model A''s were being manufactured.

Daddy had a sample of each one, and a battery hooked up so he could play the "Ah-OO-Gah" sound and attract people to his table.

Many people brought old beat-up horns to him to restore.  He would fix them and mail them back.
Model A competitions required all original parts to qualify for judging.

Holiday dinner at the Atwoods' 1978

This is in the Atwood kitchen in Mineral Wells.  That is Patsy with the long braids.  Anne Flavia next to me, and Bill on the right.  In the background are Margaret and Mother, Ann Atwood.  I think the year was 1977 or 1978.  Look at the splendid turkey dinner!!!  It was either Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Anne, Bill and Margaret with their Atwood grandparents

I am pretty sure these photos were taken by my mother, Ann Atwood.  I am positive that the one below was made in the Atwoods' front yard in Mineral Wells.

And the ones on the right were made at Lake Comanche, when all 3 kids went with their grandparents on a camping and fishing trip.
