Laura Atwood Fischer, wife of dad's brother Edward Atwood about 1974

I think these were made around 1974.  Aunt Laura at their Comanche house, visiting with a friend who dropped by, getting something out of the freezer (or putting something in)  and adjusting the water for their sprinklers.  She took care of their 2 acres of lawn, fountain and vegetable garden, as well as her greenhouse.  I sure miss her now and wish I could talk over my gardening plans with her.

  1. I was thinking yesterday about her wildflower garden in the front yard. I remember going once on a "foraging Sunday" with she and Uncle Dub...they drove about in springtime on back country roads, one of them would spot a flower, Uncle Dub would stop the car and they would go get the flower for seeds. I think they got written up in Texas Highways or some other regional magazine one year. Wish I had pictures...those were years that total strangers would stop and come chat with Laura because it was so beautiful and unique. They weren't "weeds" to her!!! Ahead of her time.
