My friend Joe Waring

This is my friend Joe Waring.  He was Hayne's cousin who grew up on Windy Hill Farm in Comanche, and lived there all of his life except when he was in the military in WWII.

Joe became the town hero.  He was a fireman, an EMT, and a Civil Defense warden.  He would never refuse to take me (and./or my friends) on an outing in Comanche County. The first picture was made on a boat on Comanche Lake.  He once took me up in his private little plane to look at Comanche County from the air.

One day at Windy Hill farm around 1976 we found a nest of baby rabbits..  The young man in the photo above is Rick Waring, Joe's nephew who was living on a nearby farm.

Windy Hill at Christmas

After John D. and Frances Waring's plane crash in 1955, Frances continued to live alone at the farm for many years.  This is the Christmas photo she mailed to friends and family in 1958.

Windy Hill Farm, Comanche County, Texas

It is about time to introduce the Warings and Reeses into this saga.  Here is a short movie about the Waring farm outside Comanche.  Hayne Reese was visiting them in the summer of 1956 and he came to church with them (they were his aunt Frances, Uncle John D., and their son, Joe.) Joe's young wife, Margaret Tate Waring, is featured in this video as well.
